Trip Canceled 9/21/14
Dear Parents and Applicants,
Thank you so much for your interest in the February 2015 community service trip to Senegal organized by Students for Senegal. Unfortunately, due to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, the board has decided that in the interest of safety to cancel the trip in 2015. We apologize that many of you took time to fill out applications and we will ensure that your work is not lost, so that if we are able to go next year, we can reuse your application if you are still interested.

Ebola Update. 8/25/14
Dear Parents and Applicants,
Thank you so much for your interest in the February 2015 community service trip to Senegal organized by Students for Senegal. As we are preparing for the trip over the summer we also have been keeping a close eye on the Ebola disease outbreak in West Africa. At this point, according to the US Embassy in Dakar, Senegal, there is no confirmed case of Ebola in Senegal. However, we want to reassure you that we will never put anything above your children’s safety and health. For now, we will continue planning for the trip and answer all of your questions. We will keep monitoring the situation in Senegal and the US Embassy warnings and we will update you as we get more information. Below please find the latest from the U.S. Embassy in Dakar.

Message for U.S. Citizens: Ebola Virus Disease Guidance to Travelers - August 8, 2014
This is an update to the notice of August 1, 2014 regarding the outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in West Africa. The U. S. Embassy would like to share with U.S. citizens living in Senegal and Guinea Bissau guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding EVD and suggested precautions for travelers who have visited Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Nigeria.
At this time, there have been no confirmed cases of EVD in Senegal or Guinea-Bissau and no special precautions are necessary after you return. However, if persons returning from a country that has reported confirmed cases of EVD and have not had direct contact with the body fluids of symptomatic infected persons or animals, or objects that have been contaminated with body fluids, should monitor their health for ten days. For complete up-to-date guidance, please check the CDC website directly.
Some airlines have decreased service but flights are available in and out of cities in affected countries. Travelers should monitor airlines to verify seat availability and be aware of alternate airlines that service their destination.
